| Brain Waves
[415AV, Leica R8, 19 mm Elmarit; 1/15 @ f/16; Velvia, 6-9-00]
In the North Coyote Buttes area of the Paria Wilderness on the Arizona-Utah border, well over 30 miles from the nearest camp or civilization, there lies this unusual rocky outcropping where in antiquity molten lava cooled in a distinctive pattern reminiscent of the impression of the human brain. Threaded through this formation are waves of vermilion which appear to end with the punctuation of this lone sentinel rock. |
